Volunteers

Parent volunteers make our swim meets possible.  We need parent volunteers at home and away meets.  Here is a description about what some of the volunteer roles entail:

Timer: Use a stopwatch to record the time it takes a swimmer to start and finish a race for one lane. Time starts when the horn sounds and time stops when swimmer touches the wall. You will record the time on a time card and hand your paperwork to the runner. Your only focus is time, not what place the swimmer comes in. (This is a standing position)

Place Judge: You will sit by the pool and work with opposing team to write or call the order each lane placed. Runner collects paperwork from you. (This is a sitting position)

Runner: You will collect time cards, place judge sheets, and disqualification forms from volunteers/ref and deliver them to the score keeping table (where the computers are). This is a standing position.

Score Keeper/Meet Entry: You will work together to process the place judge sheets and time cards (received by the runner) and enter the data into SwimTopia's Meet Maestro. You will work together with other team and compare order of finish of the place judge sheets. A computer will be provided for you. (This is a sitting position).

Pre-meet Set-up: For home meets, arrive at Dorset pool by 4:30 to assist with the set-up.

Post Meet Breakdown/Clean-up:  At the conclusion of the home meet, clean up pool and concession area.

Announcer: Call out the order of the events to inform everyone of the next event and other announcements as needed.  Watch event board to ensure the event and heat information is correct.  Work with the starter to begin each event or heat. (Sit or stand)

Starter/Horn Blower: This position works with the referee and announcer to start each event. (Sit or stand)

Event Flipper: Keep track of the event and heat numbers by turning number cards that the crowd can see. (Sit or stand)
